I oppose Dumfries and Galloway NHS Board’s proposals to close our local hospitals in Langholm, Moffat, Thornhill and Lochmaben and I will be doing everything I can to support communities in their efforts to keep them open.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway is currently holding a formal consultation on the future of its health care provision and I am urging you to make your views known, particularly on the future of the local community hospitals.
Dumfries and Galloway NHS has developed three options which set out alternative possibilities for how its services could be modernised and changed; and that could have a significant impact on the way health services are provided across our region including the possible closure of community hospitals in Moffat, Langholm, Thornhill and Lochmaben.
This review will have a far-reaching effect on health service provision for future years and it is important that everyone knows what is proposed and makes their views known by attending meetings, drop-in sessions etc over the next few weeks. Campaign groups have also been established in local communities to campaign for the retention of local hospitals. However, everybody locally who shares that view must make it known to the NHS by writing or emailing the NHS.
