Local MP David Mundell visited the Crawick Muiltiverse, a major land restoration and art project, last week. The £1 million restoration that opened in July, and employs 12 people from the Upper Nithsdale area, was designed by Charles Jencks.
After being shown round the former open cast mine, commenting Mr Mundell said – “The Crawick Multiverse project is a hidden gem, which has transformed a former open cast coal mine, into a real tourism benefit for the area.
I was so pleased to be shown round. This is a great project that employs local people from the surrounding communities. A large part of the roles will include liaising with the local community groups to ensure people from in and around Upper Nithsdale benefit from the remarkable new resource – whether for school visits, community group trips or special events, and really worth a visit."
