MP gives cautious welcome to Edinburgh bus outcome

Tuesday, 3 July, 2012

Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell has given a cautious welcome to the news that Scottish Borders Council and SPT have agreed to fund the MacEwans Dumfries to Edinburgh service over the next 6 months. A number of local constituents have contacted Mr Mundell expressing concern over the future of the route.

Mr Mundell commented: “This is a welcome stop gap solution and will put local resident’s minds at ease for the immediate future. The way this whole situation has been handled by SPT is very disappointing, local people must be consulted before changes can be forced in through the back door. Over the next six months I will be doing everything I can to secure the long term future of this vital bus service.”
