David Mundell was on hand to join in the celebrations at Hay Lodge Hospital on Monday, at their annual Christmas party. The local MP was welcomed by staff and representatives from the WRVS charity, and was delighted to be there when a cheque for £3000 was presented to the hospital on behalf of WRVS.

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell recently paid a visit to Thornhill sorting office to see first-hand the scale of the operation faced by postmen and women across the country at this time of year. Mr Mundell met workers and learned about how they cope with the huge increase in mail volume over the festive period.

Local MP David Mundell is renewing his long standing call for the former Mercury Motor Inn in Moffat to be demolished.  The building which is owned by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill has been derelict since 1999 and there have been various proposals to redevelop the site but none have come to fruition.

Following last week’s incidents where a wind turbine in Ayrshire went on fire and another in Berwickshire was blown over during high winds, local MP David Mundell has called for safety checks on existing turbines and confirmation that both they and any new turbines have the capacity to withstand high winds.

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has welcomed the news that a tile company in Lockerbie has been taken over with a view to expansion. Russell Roof Tiles, which employs 100 people in Lockerbie and Burton-upon-Trent, was bought by Russell Building Products (RBP) in a £13.6m deal.
