David Mundell MP is asking local people to submit their views on possible changes to the speed limit on the A708 between Selkirk and the Dumfries and Galloway border. Scottish Borders Council is conducting a review on reducing the speed limit to 50 mph. Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP Mr Mundell is also calling for co-ordination between SBC and Dumfries & Galloway Council.

Local MP David Mundell has welcomed news that the Scottish leg of the Tour of Britain cycle race will be in his Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale constituency. Almost 100 of the world's top cyclists will ride the 170 kilometres from Peebles to Dumfries via the Tweed valley, Innerleithen, Tweedsmuir and Moffat on Sunday 11th September in Stage One of The Tour of Britain

Tweeddale MP David Mundell addressed West Linton Rotary Club this week to speak to members about the current political landscape and his role as an MP. Commenting after the meeting Mr Mundell said: “I always welcome the opportunity to meet groups in the constituency. The Rotary Club does a great deal of valuable work and I am very happy to support them in the work that they do."

Tweeddale MP David Mundell has met the High Commissioner of Namibia, His Excellency George Liswaniso, at Westminster ahead of a visit by the diplomat to Peebles High School. The school has forged links with Sam Nujoma Combined School in the East Caprivi region of Namibia, with a group of teachers and pupils from Peebles visiting Namibia last summer to work with pupils and staff there on teaching and extra-curricular activities.

During a visit to the United States local MP David Mundell took the opportunity to visit Syracuse University and meet with the students from Lockerbie Academy who are part of the Lockerbie Scholars’ Program. Mr Mundell also met with the university vice-chancellor, Eric Spina and the academic staff involved with the Lockerbie Scholars Program, including Judy O’Rourke who has co-ordinated it since its inception and is well-known in the Lockerbie area.

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell is set to meet representatives of the Highways Agency, Transport Scotland and representatives from Gretna and Springfield community councils and Kirkandrew-on-Esk parish council on Wednesday to discuss possible changes to the Guards Mill Interchange on the M74/M6. Local communities believe the current arrangements do not provide the best access on to the M6/M74, particularly for heavy good vehicles, meaning they have to travel through local communities to get onto the motorway
