My top priority as a MP has always been to bring jobs and opportunities to this region and I will continue to push for that to happen.
I am pleased that unemployment has fallen by half across this constituency since 2010 and I am committed to working closely with local organisations and businesses in order to continue to ensure that the rural economy continues to grow.
I was delighted to see a commitment in the Conservative manifesto at the 2017 General Election for a Borderlands Growth Deal which has the potential to be a real game-changer for this constituency. I will be pressing for this to be delivered from the heart of Government, having worked on City Deals in recent years.
A Borderlands Growth Deal can be a hugely welcome boost for infrastructure and skills across the south of Scotland and I hope to see it delivered in the near future.
