Local MP welcomes the arrival of Olympic Coach in Annan

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has welcomed the visit of Phyllis McLean, a synchronised swimming coach for the British Olympic team to Annan. The Team GB coach will be on hand at Annan Swimming Pool on Wednesday to give youngsters a taster session on the Olympic Sport as part of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Sports Academy.

Moffat Academy Head Boy follows in footsteps of local MP

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell was joined last week at Westminster by Graeme Acers, who was down in London as part of his work shadowing. Graeme, who has a keen interest in politics, was recently elected by his teachers and peers as Head Boy at Moffat Academy.

Tweeddale MP calls on residents to make their voices heard in transport survey

Tweeddale MP David Mundell is urging Borders residents to detail their opinions and experiences of public transport as part of Scottish Borders Council’s Improving Access to Transport Survey 2012. Scottish Borders Council are currently looking to improve transport for older people who find it difficult to access key services easily and who do not have access to their own vehicles.

Local MP says two questions on referendum would be “admission of defeat”

Having an additional question beyond a simple “yes or no” in the referendum on Scottish independence would be an “upfront admission of defeat” for the Scottish Government, the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell told the House of Commons yesterday (Tuesday 10 July).

Local MP welcomes Farepak 50 pence in pound payment

The Joint Liquidators of Farepak have today announced that they will be making dividend payments to Farepak’s creditors, including customers and agents, at the end of next month.  In addition, the Joint Liquidators will at the same time distribute the £8million ex-gratia payment to customers and agents made by Lloyds Banking Group.

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has welcomed the announcement that Defence Minister Peter Luff has agreed to visit the Longtown Munitions Depot on the 14th of August ahead of making a decision on its future in September.

MP pledges to keep watchful eye on local police resources

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell joined local police officers to discuss issues affecting policing in Dumfries and Galloway as part of a tour of the CCTV facilities at Loreburn Street Police Station. Mr Mundell is concerned that the planned changes to policing in Scotland, which will see regional forces come under a single Scotland-wide policing authority and see resources redeployed from Dumfries and Galloway to the central belt.
