LOCAL MP GETS TICKETED-OFF

David Mundell MP has written to South West of Scotland Transport Partnership (SWESTRANS) expressing his concern and disappointment at their current ticketing arrangements. Mr Mundell has highlighted in particular the Lockerbie to Dumfries route which is currently operated by both Stagecoach Western (Service 81) and Houstons Coaches (Service 381). At present return tickets purchased on this route are only valid for services run by the bus company the ticket was originally purchased from. 

MP WELCOMES LOCAL COUNCILLORS

David Mundell MP welcomed two new faces on the local council, Annandale North Councillor Peter Diggle and Annandale East and Eskdale Councillor Karen Carruthers. Mr Mundell was recently joined at his Annan surgery by the pair to meet local residents, they also disused wind farms, broadband and the condition of local roads.

FOND FAREWELL TO RETIRED COUNCILLOR CALVERT

On Friday in Peebles night friends and colleagues joined Neil Calvert, former Tweeddale West Councillor, Finance Convenor and Deputy Council leader of Scottish Borders Council to honour his outstanding contribution as a Councillor, not just to his ward but residents right across the Borders. Neil, and his wife, Doreen were presented with a number of gifts and will be hosted at Westminster by local MP David Mundell in the autumn.

MP WELCOMES ACTION AT LADYKNOWE

Local MP David Mundell has headed up calls for action to be taken on Ladyknowe Road in Moffat, after months of complaints received from users of the access road to Moffat Caravan Park. The unadopted road has fallen into a state of disrepair with two very large pot holes just outside the entrance to Small ‘n’ Tall Nursery causing sever cause for concern. They each measure over 2 feet in diameter and are several inches deep, with the potential to cause costly damage to vehicles using the road.

MP MEETS ST. RONAN’S PUPILS AT WESTMINSTER

David Mundell MP welcomed over thirty pupils from St. Ronan’s Primary School to Parliament. The primary seven class are down in London for a residential trip between the 14th and 18th of May. They stopped off for a tour of the Palace of Westminster, where both the House of Commons and House of Lords sit. Mr Mundell met the pupils at the end of their tour and wished them well for the rest of their visit.

MP welcomes new Council Administration

Local MP David Mundell welcomes the news that the Conservative and SNP groups on Dumfries & Galloway Council have entered into a partnership agreement to form the next Council administration.

MP not convinced by Single Police Force

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has reiterated his reservations about the impact of a single Scottish Police Force on Dumfries and Galloway. Following a debate in the Scottish Parliament last week the local MP said that: “The area could lose out from a lack of local accountability and a police service no longer focused on the complex needs of this area.”

MP meets up with Lockerbie Syracuse Scholars on US Trip

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell paid a visit to Syracuse University during a trip to the US last week and met up with the Lockerbie Academy pupils undertaking this year's scholarships, Fergus Barrie and Jessica Liddon, and the scholarship programme administrator Judy O'Rourke.

Mundell welcomes improvements for LPG customers

David Mundell has welcomed news from the Office of Fair Trading that will secure improvements for domestic bulk LPG customers, following an Off-Grid Energy Market Study which identified concerns that some suppliers were not treating their customers fairly.
