Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell has praised Her Majesty The Queen as she celebrated an astonishing 65 years on the throne this week.
Following the death of her father George VI on 6 February 1952, Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne at the age of 25, and still reigns at the age of 90.
Commenting David Mundell MP said: "The Queen is a remarkable ambassador for our United Kingdom and achieving 65 years on the throne is the latest in a long line of terrific achievements by Her Majesty.
"She has completely dedicated her life to serving our country and the Commonwealth and I hope she will do so for many years to come.
"One of the highlights of my time as MP has been appointed as a Privy Councillor and working directly with Her Majesty and I congratulate her on reaching her Sapphire Jubilee."
