Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has hit out at RBS after they announced plans to axe every remaining branch in his Dumfriesshire constituency.
He says RBS has given up on rural Scotland and this is a betrayal of local taxpayers who helped to bail them out during the financial crash and remained loyal customers.
He is demanding a meeting with RBS to convey his anger at plans to close branches in Lockerbie, Annan, Langholm and Gretna.
Commenting David Mundell MP: "I'm very angry that RBS have announced yet more branch closures in my constituency and if these go ahead, there won't be a single branch in the Dumfriesshire part of my constituency.
"This shows once and for all RBS have given up on rural Scotland and this is a complete betrayal of local taxpayers who helped to bail them out.
"I'm demanding to urgently meet them to convey my anger and concerns for many of my constituents who will be extremely concerned about a lack of ability to access and bank cash.
"RBS are treating rural communities with contempt and the reality for my constituents who want to access a bank branch will need to switch to banks who actually have an interest in having a presence in Dumfriesshire.
"I am also worried about the impact the closure will have on local High Streets and will be calling RBS to account for ensuring their buildings are fully utilised if they leave."
