Dumfriesshire representatives David and Oliver Mundell were on hand to give Moffat Academy pupil Daniel Palmer an early Christmas present on Friday December 8.
The 9 year old from the academy was the winner of the joint Christmas card competition ran by the local MP and MSP, which was chosen by representatives at Moffat Rugby Club.
The competition attracted almost 600 entries across schools in Dumfriesshire, but it was Daniel's design which emerged as the card which will be sent to local organisations and fellow politicians including the Prime Minister.
Commenting David Mundell MP said: "I'm always hugely impressed by the standard of entries from youngsters across Dumfriesshire every year in the competition so I don't envy those at Moffat Rugby Club who had to choose the winning entry.
"It was great to see the delight on Daniel's face when I handed over the bike with Oliver, for his terrific winning entry.
"The annual Christmas card competition is one of the highlights of my job as a MP and I thank all the schools for their continued support of the competition; as usual there was a great standard of entries.
"My thanks also go to Tiger Cycles and Scottish Power for providing the excellent prize of a bike, which I hope Daniel will enjoy."
Oliver Mundell MSP added: "It's great to be able to reward our youngsters in our schools and after a tough competition, Daniel's design was certainly a very worthy winner.
"You could see how pleased he was to receive his prize and that makes the competition hugely worthwhile.
"My thanks also go to those pupils who took the time to enter and I look forward to seeing another high standard of entries next year across Dumfriesshire."
