Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has thrown his support behind plans for commercial expansion in Lockerbie and Annan. Process Plant and Machinery has outlined plans to install new manufacturing and storage facilities at its site in Lockerbie alongside food processing and packaging units. Scottish Enterprise has applied to the Council for approval for its plans to create a business park in Annan as part of wider regeneration.
Both projects will now go before the Planning Committee and have been recommended for approval. Mr Mundell has written to Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Planning Committee outlining his support and arguing that investment such as this which has the potential to protect and create jobs locally should be a key priority.
Mr Mundell commented: “I am supporting these projects as I believe we have to do everything we can locally to support jobs and the economy. The projects both have a lot to offer the local community and I hope they are successful.
“Being so close to the M74 corridor and having a direct link to the West Coast Mainline provides endless potential for expansion and I am determined to do what I can to support new and existing businesses in taking full advantage of this.”
