Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has called for more local content on ITV Border at a recent meeting with ITV Management. Mr Mundell called the meeting with Senior Executives to raise concerns about the level of local news on weekend and late evening bulletins in particular. At the meeting, the MP restated his support for a return to the style of Border TV’s pre merger with Tyne Tees news reporting.
Commenting on the issue, Mr Mundell said: "Locals want to have content from, and relevant to, this area. At present, weekend and late evening bulletins don't include much content about Southern Scotland. Another issue is the disappearance of localised documentary programmes in the schedule.
“I didn’t support the merger of Border and Tyne Tees but we need to make sure new arrangements provide the best service to local people. That’s the message I gave to ITV Senior Management. They undertook to work to improve the weekend and late evening bulletins and I hope to see an improvement.”
