Local MP David Mundell swapped politics for a charity shop floor last Friday, by taking part in national 'Make a Difference Day'. The annual event, organised by UK volunteering charity CSV (Community Service Volunteers), aims to encourage more people to volunteer in their communities.
Mr Mundell was welcomed by the team at Barnardo's Scotland in Moffat, where he spent time learning about the work of the charity and interacting with customers.
Commenting afterwards on his experience, Mr Mundell said: "I enjoyed my time at Barnardo's immensely and learned a lot about the hard work and organisation that goes into running a successful charity shop like the Moffat branch.
“The retail staff, some of whom have volunteered at Barnardo's for years, were very welcoming and enthusiastic about the work they do for the charity. I commend their dedication and collective efforts in creating a thriving charity shop which is rightly very popular locally."
