David Mundell MP is asking local people to submit their views on possible changes to the speed limit on the A708 between Selkirk and the Dumfries and Galloway border. Scottish Borders Council is conducting a review on reducing the speed limit to 50 mph. Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP Mr Mundell is also calling for co-ordination between SBC and Dumfries & Galloway Council.
Commenting Mr Mundell said: “The A708 is an important local route which is used by people living in both the Scottish Borders Council area and in Dumfries & Galloway. I would encourage residents to contribute to the consultation process and submit their views on the possible change. I am also calling for proper co-ordination between the two councils and to that end I have written to Dumfries & Galloway Council asking them what part they are playing in this process and whether they intend to take any similar action.”
