Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale & Tweeddale MP David Mundell is supporting local residents who are demanding urgent action to repair the Sorbie Road, Langholm.
He is now calling on Dumfries & Galloway Council to carry out remedial work before the winter weather, which will simply make the problems worse.
The MP said he’d been approached by concerned constituents both at his surgeries and at the Langholm Show.
“As I have travelled over from Eskdalemuir on this road that links to the A7 I am very much aware of its poor, pot holed and flooded condition. It has been raised by constituents at my surgeries, and also with me at the Langholm Show.
“Apart from the potentially car damaging potholes they are concerned about the flooding to the passing places, all of which is just going to get worse as we get into the winter. A blocked drain at Potholm Bridge has also been causing some problems.
“I have been in touch with roads officials over this issue and am waiting to hear when repairs can commence,” he added.
Local councillor Denis Male is backing calls for urgent repairs, adding: “Part of this road is in a dreadful state and repairs are long overdue.”
