This year’s Tesco for Schools & Clubs promotion has been another success, seeing local schools and clubs receiving fantastic new equipment.
To celebrate, Tesco Peebles invited local MP David Mundell along to the Dovecot Road store to present equipment to four schools from the town.
While there the MP handed over a range of equipment to pupils from Priorsford, Kingsland and Halyrude Primary Schools, and Peebles High School.
Afterwards he said: “It was a great delight to be able to meet these local pupils and present them with just some of the items they have chosen from this year’s Tesco for Schools & Clubs promotion. It is good to see local schools receiving such support from their community.”
The nationwide scheme, this year celebrating its 21st anniversary, enables UK schools and clubs to redeem vouchers from Tesco purchases for all sorts of amazing products from iMacs to drum kits and garden tools to tennis rackets.
Over 40,000 schools and clubs in the UK have signed up to take part in the programme and last year alone, Tesco gave away over 450,000 pieces of equipment to schools and clubs, worth a staggering £9.2 million.
This year, shoppers in the local area received vouchers over ten weeks which they donated to a school or club of their choice. These schools and clubs were then able to choose what equipment they wanted from the catalogue to benefit and educate children.
Pauline Young, Community Champion at Tesco Peebles said: “Tesco for Schools & Clubs is a scheme which my team are proud to be part of. Thousands of customers have been collecting vouchers to help their local schools and clubs get new equipment showing what can happen when a whole community gets involved.”
