Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell was on hand to lend his support last Friday at the official launch of the Conservative candidates for the upcoming council elections in May.
The launch on Friday 3rd February 2012 took place at three venues across the South of Scotland region of his constituency, and included photo calls at Lockerbie, Gretna and Canonbie throughout the day.
The candidates aiming for election for election success said they hoped to bring a fresh and innovative approach to the existing team, and all had a sense of pride in the region.
Speaking at the launch of the candidates, Mr Mundell said: "I am delighted to support the Conservative candidates standing at the forthcoming council elections. Some are new faces who I know would do a fantastic job in representing the constituents in our beautiful part of Scotland, and have the necessary 'can-do' attitude required to become successful councillors.
“Several of the candidates are standing for re-election, and those who are elected in May will join a team that's working well together in these straightened times to improve service delivery to the whole area. I wish all the candidates every success."
Councillors Lindsay and Graham, who are standing down this year, were praised by the candidates for their long service and dedication to improving services in Dumfries and Galloway.
