Local MP David Mundell is this week embarking on the first leg of his annual surgery tour which takes him to nearly 100 village halls and community centres across his 2000 square mile constituency. Mr Mundell is trialling a new format which will see some venues visited in September and others in the Spring.
Mr Mundell said: "The annual surgery tour is an important part of the parliamentary year for me as it allows me to visit every community in my vast constituency and hear directly from local people on either local or national issues or be able to help them with an individual problem.
“I usually see hundreds of people over the course of the tour. I really enjoy the contact and it helps me keep in touch with my priorities. As a number of the halls I visit are quite close together I wanted to see whether it would be better if I went to neighbouring venues alternately in the autumn and spring. It’s an experiment and I will welcome feedback from constituents."
Mr Mundell began the Dumfriesshire leg of his tour at Kirkmichael Hall (pictured) on 19th September and will conclude at Thankerton Hall in South Lanarkshire on 4th October, taking in all Tweeddale venues in between.
