A talented young artist who attends Lamington Primary School has received an early Christmas present thanks to her winning design in David Mundell's annual Christmas card competition in Clydesdale and Tweeddale.
Tabitha Wearden was presented with a bike by her local MP after her entry was selected as the winner by players at Biggar Rugby Club recently.
Mr Mundell visited Lamington Primary School on Monday morning to hand over the prize to Tabitha.
The local MP also ran a competition for schools in the Dumfriesshire area of his vast constituency with the bike for the Clydesdale and Tweeddale section of the competition being kindly donated by Scottish Power.
Commenting David Mundell MP said: "The standard of entries from youngsters across Clydesdale and Tweeddale was once again extremely high this year so I don't envy the players at Biggar Rugby Football Club who had to choose the winner from a huge amount of entries
"It is always one of the highlights of my year to be able to give an early Christmas present to a youngster and I could see the delight on Tabitha's face when I awarded her the bike.
"The support for the Christmas card competition continues to grow and I thank all of those youngsters in Clydesdale and Tweeddale who took the time to send such wonderful entries, with the artistic talent in our schools clear for all to see.
"My thanks also go to Scottish Power for providing the excellent prize of a bike, which I hope Tabitha will enjoy."
