LANGHOLM has joined in a global initiative to protect the environment by promoting tree planting.
Dumfriesshire MP and Scottish Secretary David Mundell joined local councillor Ronnie Tait, community councillors and other Muckle Toon representatives this week to plant a rowan sapling in Buccleuch Park.
The young tree was provided by Mr Mundell through The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy (QCC), an initiative, launched four years ago, which included tree conservation projects across all 53 Commonwealth nations.
