David Mundell MP has welcomed the creation of the ‘Borders Book Trail’ ahead of the Borders Book Festival next weekend (16-19 June).
Mr Mundell said: “I welcome this initiative – it is great way to promote our local literary heritage and also stimulate tourism here and now. Tweeddale has a wealth of literary connections, not least associated with the work of Sir Walter Scott. As we approach the 240th birthday of ‘The Wizard of the North’ this summer it is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the landscape and places which inspired his work. I congratulate all involved in the project, particularly Last Century Books in Innerleithen.”
