MP calls for a Fairer Deal for Rural Online Shoppers

Local MP David Mundell has called for greater transparency by online retailers after the findings of a report by Citizens Advice Scotland. The report showed that customers who shopped online from rural and remote parts of Scotland have been refused delivery because of where they live.

Local MP David Mundell was delighted by the response in his quest to find a winning design for his Christmas cards this year. The annual competition attracted over 600 entries from Primary Five pupils in 26 schools across the constituency, including 16 from Dumfriesshire, six from Clydesdale and three from Tweeddale.

Tweeddale MP joins in Christmas Celebration at Hay Lodge

David Mundell was on hand to join in the celebrations at Hay Lodge Hospital on Monday, at their annual Christmas party. The local MP was welcomed by staff and representatives from the WRVS charity, and was delighted to be there when a cheque for £3000 was presented to the hospital on behalf of WRVS.

MP pays Posties a Visit

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell recently paid a visit to Thornhill sorting office to see first-hand the scale of the operation faced by postmen and women across the country at this time of year. Mr Mundell met workers and learned about how they cope with the huge increase in mail volume over the festive period.

MP demands action on former Mercury Motor Inn, Moffat

Local MP David Mundell is renewing his long standing call for the former Mercury Motor Inn in Moffat to be demolished.  The building which is owned by the Edinburgh Woollen Mill has been derelict since 1999 and there have been various proposals to redevelop the site but none have come to fruition.

MP demands safety checks on Wind Turbines

Following last week’s incidents where a wind turbine in Ayrshire went on fire and another in Berwickshire was blown over during high winds, local MP David Mundell has called for safety checks on existing turbines and confirmation that both they and any new turbines have the capacity to withstand high winds.

Local MP welcomes more help for Scotland in Chancellor's Autumn Statement

David Mundell has welcomed the measures outlined yesterday in Chancellor George Osborne's Autumn Statement. The Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP said he hoped some of the £433 million extra capital investment Scotland that will receive would make its' way to the region.
