Dumfriesshire and Tweeddale MP has welcomed an announcement by ITV Border that they will be covering the Scottish independence referendum over the coming 16 months with extensive programming. Mr Mundell feels their new proposal will enhance the local debate, giving people an appropriate level of national coverage whilst retaining the dedicated local coverage form ITV Borders that viewers across the region know and value.

Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell has welcomed the announcement of a confirmed bidder for Scottish Coal assets. The local MP who has remained in close contact with the administrators, union officials and the Scottish Government believes that whilst the announcement does not give all the answers it is an important development and is the next step forward.  Mr Mundell now anticipates that Broken Cross will remain open and is hopeful that the final details which will emerge over the next 4-6 weeks will present the best possible outcome locally.
