Dumfriesshire representatives David and Oliver Mundell were delighted to pay a visit to congratulate Langholm's Grace Brown after she received a British Empire Medal (BEM).
Grace had learned of her award in June with the release of the Queens Birthday Honours and was celebrated at Langholm Town Hall on Thursday 7th December where she received her medal.
Grace was then paid a visit by the local MP and MSP who were keen to congratulate her personally.
Commenting David Mundell MP said: "I was absolutely delighted to be able to have the chance to congratulate Grace in person on her thoroughly deserved award.
"Grace is a local legend and has been a complete pillar of communities in Eskdale for decades, serving voluntarily on so many committees and groups and it is only right we give something back to her.
"It is remarkable that she has served at local elections for over 50 years, ensuring smooth running at all times of the democratic process.
"Without Grace, many local achievements over the years simply wouldn't have been possible."
Oliver Mundell MSP added: "I could hardly think of many people more deserving of this award than Grace Brown.
"She has given endless hours of her service to help serve the community she loves and it is very fitting she has been reward with a British Empire Medal.
"It was lovely to see Grace the day after she collected her award to pay my own congratulations and thank her for all she has done for this area."
