Tweeddale MP David Mundell has praised the expansion plans at the Mountain Bike Centre recently following a visit and tour at the centre at the site at Glentress Forest.
Mr Mundell was delighted to accept an invitation to hear about how the team plan to make the Tweed Valley the destination for Mountain Biking and how they can boost the local economy more widely.
The centre is part of Developing Mountain Biking Centre, which is headed by Edinburgh Napier University and the expansion plans are designed to boost tourism in the Tweeddale region and continue the promotion of world class cycle trails in the region.
The team were also keen to discuss being part of the Borderlands Gorwth Deal, which Mr Mundell has pushed forward in recent months at the heart of Government.
Commenting on his visit, David Mundell MP said: "This was an absolutely fantastic visit to the Mountain Bike Centre at Glentress to learn more about their projects which I hope can have a real boost for the local economy.
"From innovation centres, to bike parks and an adventure activity hub it is wonderful to see the team being so ambitious to make this part of Scotland the place to be for Mountain Biking and beyond.
"By linking up with local businesses as well, there will be a real economic boost to Tweeddale and further beyond in the Borders and I am pleased they are wanting to be part of the Borderlands Initiative.
"It is exactly these sort of ambitious projects that the Borderlands Initiative is all about so I am keen to support the team as part of those on going discussions.
"I hope to be back soon to even try out an electric bike trail and to see their plans moving along and I thank the team for a very informative visit."
