David Mundell MP has paid tribute to former Labour MP Jimmy Hood, who has died at the age of 69.
Mr Mundell's constituency was the neighbouring one to Mr Hood's fellow Lanarkshire constituency and although the pair rarely agreed politically, they always got on well together during their time together in the House of Commons.
Jimmy Hood was the MP for Clydesdale from 1987-2005, before representing Lanark and Hamilton East until 2015.
Commenting on his passing, David Mundell said: "I'm very sad to hear the news of Jimmy Hood's passing and my thoughts are with his wife and family.
"We were on different sides politically obviously but we always got on well and worked together for common interests across Lanarkshire.
"Jimmy was a committed Labour man, with a particularly strong connection to the mining communities and he always fought their corner."
