Clydesdale MP David Mundell has congratulated the Rigside based Healthy Valleys project on successfully gaining £50,000 in grant aid from the Young Start programme.
The grant will provide 1;1 support to 40 individuals, aged 14 – 24, who are struggling with mild to moderate mental health issues and related issues like depression, low self-esteem and anxiety.
Support will be delivered in the form of 1;1 counselling sessions. Young participants will also be eligible to become buddies and or take part in a range of health promoting activities such as cookery classes and activities that improve physical health.
“Healthy Valleys play an important part in ensuring the health of many constituents in Clydesdale and I am delighted with this latest award, something which will allow them to continue with their valuable work in the community,” said Mr Mundell.
Young Start is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund to distribute money from dormant accounts. Young Start aims to create opportunities for children and young people aged between 8 and 24 to help realise their potential. Organisations can apply for a total Young Start grant of between £10,000 and £50,000 and for up to two years funding.
