Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell has renewed his call for all interested parties to work together on Dalarran, the Langholm nursing home which is under threat of closure.
After speaking to the Care Inspectorate, who reassured Mr Mundell that they were doing everything they could to secure a positive outcome for residents, the local MP now believes that the owner and the Council, as well as other key stakeholders must redouble their efforts to find a way forward.
Mr Mundell is clear that any decision on its future must put the needs of the existing residents first, and that means prioritising any proposals that will allow them to remain in the Langholm area.
Commenting Mr Mundell said: “The Care Inspectorate made it clear to me that they are working for a solution that meets the needs of the residents. Everyone involved including the owner and the council must now work together to ensure the best possible outcome for the existing residents.
“All possible options to keep those who want to stay in the Langholm area the opportunity to do so should be explored. This is not a time to point fingers, but a time for all stakeholders to work together to find a way forward,” he added.
