Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell, who was seen sporting a red nose at Westminster last week to show his support for Comic Relief, joined pupils from Caerlaverock on Friday.
The organisation celebrates its 25 anniversary this year and Mr Mundell was impressed with the efforts the pupils had gone to to highlight the tremendous work the charity is doing both here in the UK and overseas.
Mr Mundell wanted to join them as they did something funny for money and was pleased to see the school children taking time to remember those less fortunate than themselves. After visiting Malawi last month, to see the work of the UK Government and projects supported by people from this region,
Mr Mundell has seen firsthand the benefit donations make. Commenting, the MP said: “Comic Relief has been making a real difference to people and communities over the last 25 years, both at home and abroad. I wanted to show my support and get involved with young people who were doing their bit to do something funny for money.
“Joining them reminded me just how engaging Comic Relief has been, and the excellent work it does to connect with people and break down barriers. The pupils can be really proud of themselves and the difference the money they raised will make. My recent trip to Malawi once again highlighted the benefits even a small amount of support can make in what are very challenging conditions.”
