Local MP David Mundell has helped pupils at Hutton Primary School, Boreland, take part in The Big Bang, the largest celebration of maths, science, technology and engineering in the UK.
Pupils from the tiny primary displayed their research in hydrocarbons and green technologies at the event in London in March, where they also met Prince Andrew.
The four day trip to London cost £160 per pupil cost, covering travel and accommodation, and the MP stepped in and contributed £100 towards their costs. He had received the cash for answering parliamentary surveys.
“This was an exceptional social and learning opportunity for the children, amongst whom may be some to tomorrow’s scientists or engineers, and so I was delighted to be able to assist,” said Mr Mundell, who is pictured presenting a £100 cheque to pupils at the school.
