Local MP David Mundell has congratulated the organisers of the annual TweedLove bike festival on their latest success.
The Tweeddale MP recently met TweeddLove director Neil Dalgleish to hear of their exciting plans for the 2014 festival.
The two-week TweedLove event stages its fifth edition in May next year, when it will host a round of the Enduro World Series as part of a programme it hopes will generate £1.2m for the local economy.
As well as the Scottish Borders, the Enduro series is also visiting Canada, the USA, Chile, France and Italy.
The competition brings together cross-country and downhill mountain biking to "push both the physical and technical abilities of competitors to the limit".
“This is the first time this tough and exciting series has visited the UK and it is a fantastic feather in the cap for TweedLove that they have persuaded the organisers to come to this part of the world. This will put Scotland and the Tweeddale on the international ‘must visit’ list for mountain bikers and the TweedLove organisers must be congratulated for pulling off this coup. Events like this not only help our economy on the days of the event, but the subsequent publicity generated worldwide should ensure that many others across the world add Tweeddale to their future holiday plans,” added Mr Mundell.
