CLYDESDALE MP David Mundell said this week that he is “disappointed for local people” following a council decision not to reject controversial wind farm plans.
South Lanarkshire Council received 110 objections to proposals by Banks Renewables to erect 15 giant wind turbines at Middle Muir, between Crawfordjohn and Douglas.
Middle Muir Action Group has been fighting the proposals and hoped councillors would back their opposition to the turbines, some of which will be almost 500ft high.
But now the council’s planning committee has decided to tell the Scottish Government that they have no objection to the proposed Middle Muir Wind Farm.
“My view on wind farms across my constituency is well known – enough is enough. In this part of southern Clydesdale it is hard to find a hill without a wind turbine and so I have every sympathy with local residents trying to block the plans. I am disappointed that in this instance councillors could not take into account the cumulative impact another wind farm has in this part of my rural constituency,” said the local MP.
