Tweeddale MP David Mundell this week joined supporters of the Royal British Legion in Peebles for their coffee morning on Saturday to hand over a cheque for £200. The Local MP wanted to take the opportunity to support their efforts and recognise the significant contribution the group make as part of annual remembrance events. Mr Mundell enjoyed chatting to those involved with the group including a number of veterans living in the town.
Commenting David Mundell MP said: “I wanted to take this opportunity to recognise the work the British Legion in Peebles do to support veterans in the community and the very significant contribution they make to remembrance events. At this time of year we all see the benefit of their hard work which continues all year round and it was great to have the chance to speak to some of those involved and have the chance to say thank you on behalf of the whole community.
“I was pleased to help in any way I could as I believe we all hold a massive debt of gratitude to both our serving and former soldiers and those who give of their time to support them. I would encourage people locally to do what they can to support this cause."
