Tweeddale MP David Mundell has congratulated five pupils from St. Ronan's Primary School, Innerleithen, who have made it through to the final of the national Euroquiz competition.
The primary six quiz team of Callum Anderson, Thomas Brydon, Kieran Frost, Max Pring and Conrad Thomson took part in the recent regional heat of Euroquiz and came away as winners after fighting off very stiff competition from 12 other schools.
They will now go on to represent the Scottish Borders at the national final to be held at the Scottish Parliament in May.
“I am delighted that these young people from Innerleithen have been so successful and shown everyone just how much they know about Europe and its rich history and culture and I, as I am sure everyone in the area also does, wish them even more success in May,” said the MP.
Mr Mundell also congratulated the Innerleithen St Ronan's Band for winning the Scottish Brass Band Championships.
“That is wonderful news and I hope they return from England later in the year with the UK championship under their belt,” he added.
