Tweeddale MP David Mundell has welcomed a cash boost for a scheme aimed at teaching local children valuable life skills.
The Crucial Crew event, which is in its 21st year, sees Primary 7 children take part in scenarios where they have to identify potential hazards and are required to respond as if they were real-life.
It is designed to help young people to cope with dangerous situations, avoid becoming the victims of crime and understand the roles of the emergency services.
Now the Royal Highland Education Trust has agreed to give a grant of more than £500 to ensure the annual event can continue.
Welcoming the grant Mr Mundell said: “The Crucial Crew event is a very valuable annual educational safety event targeting every p7 pupil on the importance of safety in the countryside. These pupils live in a rural area and so it is very important that they know all about the potential dangers of the countryside, life skills which will stand them in good stead later in their lives.”
