David Mundell MP welcomed two new faces on the local council, Annandale North Councillor Peter Diggle and Annandale East and Eskdale Councillor Karen Carruthers. Mr Mundell was recently joined at his Annan surgery by the pair to meet local residents, they also disused wind farms, broadband and the condition of local roads.
David Mundell MP said:
“I am keen to do whatever I can to support new councillors in delivering for local people. It is great to see these new and enthusiastic additions to the Conservative Council team. Local government is the front-line of politics and by working together MPs, MSPs and Councillors can get the best deal for our constituents.”
“For both Karren and Peter the council will be a new experience but I am confident they can make a real difference. I will be making the most of their first hand experience of the NHS and business, respectively.”
Councillor Peter Diggle said:
“It is great to get started after a hard fought election campaign. I am ready to raise the concerns of the hundreds of people I met on the doorstep over the last few months. I look forward to working with David and the Conservative team to deliver from day one.”
Mr Diggle added:
“For one thing we will be joining forces to address concerns about further wind farm developments in the area.”
Councillor Karen Carruthers said:
“I am determined to hit the ground running and I will be out and about meeting as many local residents as possible over the next few months. I am eager to work with anyone interested in making a difference for the local community.”
Mrs Carruthers added:
“Hopefully by working together we can continue to make progress with broadband speeds in Annandale, like David I recognise this is vital to the success of local business.”
