Local MP David Mundell welcomes the news that the Conservative and SNP groups on Dumfries & Galloway Council have entered into a partnership agreement to form the next Council administration.
Mr Mundell has argued throughout the council election campaign that local government has great potential to make a difference on issues that affect local residents on a daily basis. He welcomes the news that both parties are willing to set aside their national differences to do what they feel is best for the people of Dumfries and Galloway.
Mr Mundell commended the incoming administration, saying: “It is great to see local politicians work together in establishing a stable and forward looking administration, supported by a majority of councillors. I look forward to working with them to deliver the best deal possible for local residents no matter who they voted for.”
Mr Mundell added: “Together they have identified a positive programme for the region, concentrating on regeneration, roads, business development and key projects for the future. Now the discussion process is complete it is time for the administration to hit the ground running on these issues to help boost the local economy and to change local peoples’ lives for the better.”
