Tweeddale MP David Mundell has welcomed the start of construction of new £4.8 million state-of-the-art sports facilities for Peebles High School.
A sod-cutting ceremony marked the start of construction on Monday, 10 June.
Work is due to be completed by April next year and will provide a new indoor four-court games hall, general purpose hall, fitness suite and classroom, and associated changing facilities. Externally there will be a new 2G synthetic pitch, sprint track and long jump track.
The local MP commented: “I welcome the start of this project which will provide a fantastic boost for leisure facilities in the Peebles area. This scheme provides a wide range of sports and leisure facilities which will also be available to the public locally outside of school hours. I am sure that once opened this will be a very well used centre.”
