Residents in Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale are being encouraged by local MP David Mundell to contact a special telephone helpline to see if they could reduce their energy bills.
The Home Heat Helpline offers free, impartial advice to people on low incomes who are worried about their energy costs and staying warm during winter. The Helpline connects people to services, and helps them reduce their energy bills.
As many as 1 in 10 UK households are eligible for assistance through the Home Heat Helpline. We would be grateful if you could help us to raise awareness of the Helpline among your constituents.
The Helpline is funded by Britain’s major energy suppliers and supported by care professionals and other organisations such as Citizens Advice Bureau and housing associations.
Mr Mundell said: “The Home Heat Helpline advises people worried about paying their energy bills and keeping warm during the winter. It also gives advice to low-income households in urgent need of heating help and advice. It is free to call and is open 9am-6pm Monday to Friday.
“Local residents may be entitled to help with their energy bills, and so I would encourage them to call the Home Heat Helpline now on 0800 33 66 99 to find out how to save money. There’s lots of help available including grants for insulation and new boilers, discounts and rebates and other schemes to help you keep warm. More than one in ten households are entitled to help so it can help to call the Helpline today,” added the MP.
