Dumfriesshire and Clydesdale MP David Mundell is backing a community project aimed at bringing superfast broadband to the area.
The B4GAL group are presently raising awareness and funding to progress their own community broadband system.
The area their scheme covers runs from the Clydesdale villages of Wiston, Roberton and Lamington to Elvanfoot, Leadhills and also Wanlockhead in Dumfriesshire.
The local MP, who has been campaigning for improved broadband services in this rural area, said: "This is important for those living and working within these communities since they deserve the same quality of broadband services as other places.
“Everybody in these rural communities should be able to access high speed broadband, and that's why this project is so important and I hope that it will lead to the arrival soon of the broadband service local people want and need. Given its importance in modern life, it is not acceptable for rural communities to be excluded from the rollout of this technology and I will continue to campaign for improvements to services throughout Clydesdale and Dumfriesshire," added Mr Mundell.
The B4GAL group have been organising roadshows to tell the public more about their project, and the MP recently visited their Leadhills roadshow to meet those behind the project and offer his support.
Their next roadshow is in Roberton Village Hall on April 22.
