TWO leading figures in the Tweeddale business world have visited 10 Downing Street to meet Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt.
They were Elliott Winyard, a director of the family-run Stobo Castle Health Spa, and Ruth Hinks, director of Cocoa Black, an internationally respected chocolate and pastry school and boutique cafe in Peebles.
Both award-winning businesses are part of an increasingly diverse and enterprising hospitality sector in Tweeddale and the wider Scottish Borders.
Elliott and Ruth were nominated by local MP David Mundell as Business Champions and were special guests at a reception at Number 10 hosted by Mr Hunt.
They were accompanied to the event by Mr Mundell and were also his guest at the Palace of Westminster where they enjoyed a tour and a meal.
“I was delighted Elliott and Ruth were able to attend the reception and meet colleagues from around the UK whilst also sharing their thoughts with the Chancellor,” said Mr Mundell.
Mr Hunt added: “Local businesses are vital for our economy, our day to day lives and our communities. Creating jobs, supporting growth in a huge variety of sectors, their tireless hard work does not go unnoticed.”
