Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell is urging constituents to "get on your bike," ahead of this autumn's 10th anniversary Tour of Britain.
The UK's answer to the famous Tour of France starts in Peebles on September 15, with the opening stage finishing at Drumlanrig Castle later that day.
The cycle race provides a much needed boost to the local economy, and showcases the area to millions via TV coverage.
Last year's stage in southern Scotland was won by international star Mark Cavendish.
Now cycling members of the public will have a chance to emulate the stars when the Tour Ride Scotland takes place 24 hours earlier, over 50 and 100 mile routes.
Welcoming the plans MP David Mundell, in whose constituency the opening stage is being held, said: "This will be a fantastic opportunity for the public to experience some, or all, of a Tour of Britain stage, and I hope as many constituents as possible will take up this offer. Last year we all saw Britain's, and Scotland's, cycling stars in action and now it is the public's chance to have a go.
"This race brings large numbers of people to the region, and, apart from providing a great boost to the local economy, the TV coverage also highlights just what a beautiful region we live in. With millions watching the race on TV this is also a very important advert for southern Scotland, one which, hopefully, will boost visitors down the line," he added.
