Responding to an OFCOM consultation on how Scottish curent affairs programming should be provided when an itvBorder local news service is resinsated, local MP David Mundell has encouraged local people to let their views be known.
Mr Mundell said: "I was delighted when OFCOM listened to local people and recommended a return to the type of Border TV news we wanted in this area, with a local focus and not centred on Gateshead. The new service will have a 30 mins Lookaround News programme which will focus solely on the old Border TV area and that means much more local content for us here in the South of Scotland. That is great news, but there is still discussion ongoing about how specific Scottish political and current affairs programming should be provided, particualrly in the context of the independence referendum. Two options have been suggested, but local people will also be able to make their own suggestions and I encourage them to do so."
